FAQs

  • Psychotherapy sessions are typically 50 minutes long. Your psychotherapist may recommend a longer session length if they believe it would support your treatment.

  • Typically, psychotherapy clients see their psychotherapist one time per week. However, depending on your specific circumstances, your psychotherapist may recommend more frequent sessions.

  • Your psychotherapist will not disclose your personal information without your written consent.

In specific instances of imminent danger, abuse, or neglect, your psychotherapist may be required by law to disclose the minimum information necessary to ensure safety. These circumstances will be discussed with you at the beginning of treatment.

  • Mental health treatment is not one size fits all. During your first few sessions, your psychotherapist will begin to customize a treatment plan tailored to your specific goals including an estimate of treatment length. Many people start to find some relief after a few sessions of psychotherapy.

  • Therapy is your time! You have permission to talk about anything that is on your mind. Not sure where to start? Your relationships are often a good place to begin—family, friends, work, and romantic relationships.

Many people worry that they will have nothing to talk about when they meet with their psychotherapist. Our psychotherapists are highly trained in talk therapy and will help guide you through the process.

  • Currently, Casa Alma Mental Health provides services virtually to clients who reside in California. Walk and talk therapy is available in late spring, summer, and fall; weather permitting. Check back for updates.

  • Psychotherapists at Casa Alma Mental Health are trained, experienced, and accredited psychologists (PhD/PsyD), registered associate marriage and family therapists (AMFT), or registered associate clinical social workers (ASW).
